Hi,

 

I am currently experiencing some bad ibs flare ups the past few weeks and it got me thinking...

what is the best routine to follow to have a healthy pregnancy? We want to try to conceive this year and I would like to avoid weeks like these as you cant really drink pills when your pregnant.

 

I know I have been lazy in the fitness department and I am planning on changing that. I have already added flaxseed to my diet and that seems to be really helping. As well as manuka honey to boost my immune system. Any advice would be appreciated.

 

its my biggest dream to become a parent and I just want to do all that I can to be happy and healthy through it all.

Hi Candicet, I think the best thing you can do is get your flares under control. From what I've heard if you go into the pregnancy in remission you have a better chance of staying in remission. There are still medications you can take while pregnant, I was on prednisone for the first 6 weeks of my pregnancy. It was for reasons unrelated to my colitis and part of my FET protocol. I read up about it and the internet was saying that there is a chance of low birth weight, however my little one has been growing well ahead of schedule this entire time. I haven't had any issues with my pouch so far, I'm just past 11 weeks and my pouch was healthy going into this.

I'm pretty worried about how my health will hold up in general and then therefor the baby's health. Not that I have much reason to worry because I'm pretty healthy (for someone with a jpouch/ulcerative colitis). But like you I was told that everything would be fine. All my doctors were very supportive of pregnancy. I hope it all works out for you!!!
