Hi Everyone! Has anyone had a butt closure and a year later still leaking small amounts of fluid/watery blood daily? I’m having this issue and not sure why. The k pouch is working very well but this butt leakage is frustrating. Don’t really want more surgery… and have already had a small procedure to “fix” the situation last January without luck.

sorry for your situation. sounds annoying and worrying issue that needs to be resolved.
haven't had that problem. occasionally the butt closure feels tender and a drop of blood. it's not a problem like you have.
who is your surgeon? maybe another doc? keep us posted please, jan
Yeah I would see a surgeon ASAP. Its too bad a lot of the k-pouch and BiCR surgeons are retired.
What is a Barbie butt? I have never heard of that term. I have been off this site for years and just came back on.

Excellent question. A barbie butt is a term that is used for people that get their asshole sewn up and the anus removed.
Thank you!
I have had a Barbie butt for 23 yrs and didn’t know it! I like that term!

dr. kiran successful repaired a hernia on my valve. keep us posted please.
be well and peace, jan
Hi, I’m currently in hospital after having surgery by Dr Kiran. He removed a bunch of scar tissue in various areas above my k pouch & on the valve. He also drained a fluid filled cyst in my bottom (Just learned the term Barbie butt!) I was told I had a persistent sinus tract wound years ago & have had horrible rectal pressure on ‘n off. No one can find the actual tract? But I have had the fluid drained several times. It’s been a simple “fix” but hasn’t solved the problem. Might be worth looking into? And I’ll be discussing this issue with Dr. Kiran during my follow-up after I’m released. I’ll report back :-) But do keep us posted if you find a solution. Hang in there
I am sorry! It’s not fun! Who built your original K pouch and when? Did you have a j pouch prior? Thanks for reaching out and I would like to stay in touch because your situation seems similar.
Always miserable to be in hospital, but glad the surgery is behind you. I’m curious about the cyst. If they drained it, why couldn’t they take the cyst out? Or does draining remove the cyst? I don’t know anything about it.
When I had my K surgery dr. Dietz removed considerable amount of scar tissue on my intestine. It made an amazing difference by eliminating small bowel obstructions. Hope it helps with some of your Problematic symptoms.
Hope you get released soon and are comfortable traveling home. Keep us posted. Be well, Jan
I just had a cyst filled with fluid and a little blood on the lower part of my stomach where my incision was that kept leaking fluid. I went n saw the nurse practitioner who drained it and cauterized it with the silver nitrate sticks and I was healed a few days later.
I had a J Pouch done back in 1995 in NYC & several mistakes happened during surgery which left me with an ostomy bag for 10 years. I had my k pouch done by Dr Fazio out at the Cleveland Clinic in 2005. Dr. Dietz did follow up revisions after Dr. Fazio passed. I was told that I probably developed this sinus tract wound after the initial surgery, but not clear. I’ve just always developed rectal pressure after standing for long periods of time, for long stretches of time. Twice doctors made a 2mm incision in my Barbie butt, drained & cauterized. No lasting help. Surgeons have done exploratory surgery but only find the fluid build up (cyst) and drain & remove the cyst. They leave a tiny drain in my butt for 2 weeks. I’ve had that procedure 3 times. Unfortunately they just can’t find a tract. I don’t understand it? and it’s very frustrating . Dr. Kiran again found the fluid build up & drained it, no drain? just a couple of stitches in my butt. I’ll get back to you after speaking more with Dr. Kiran :-)
Please want to stay in touch. Thanks for all the history. My J pouch was botched by Dr.Remzi! Did you know Dr.Dietz is coming to take over NYU Langone colorectal starting October 1st I think… let me know what Dr.Kiran says. It shouldn’t be a mystery but it always is!
I just have to say thank god we have this site to turn to. It’s so good to have people who have what you have and can give helpful hints! I’m not a unicorn.
