I am not quite a year past take down. It appears I have chronic pouchitis. Last scope was a fully inflamed pouch. Since then, I have been trying to manage it with varying meds. I like to call it "Medication Roulette".

I have been on one combination or another of Flagyl/Cipro/Entocort for much of the past 8 months.

I don't tolerate Flagyl well as it causes great fatigue. Combined with Cirpro, it is worse, and I have more side effects. I am not sure the Entocort is doing anything since I was on it at my last scope. The inflammation seems to only improve when I am on full doses of Cirpo/Flagyl, but I feel like total crap.

I wanted to try to take probiotics too, but was told that the antibiotics would just kill them so it was a waste of time and money while taking abx.

How do you balance probiotics (pbx) and abx, and can they be effective when taking 2 different abx 2 times per day? If possible, I would like to wean down the abx and increase the pbx.

To be fair, no alternatives worked for my UC - and I tried almost all of them - so I am a bit skeptical that they will work for pouchitis.

Any advise is greatly appreciated. I would love to keep this pouch, but my quality of life is suffering.
