Hi am just checking since I always tend to blame everything on my medical condition. I am 4 years with a j-pouch but have had chronic pouchitis since the beginning. I have been on maintenance cipro now for our years and it works wonders. I have recently started having back pains and yesterday I had a shooting pain in my back just moving around (not lifting or anything) and now it is bothering so much I can barely stand. If it doesn't stop I will go to doctor but I am just wondering if this could be tied to my use of cipro everyday.

Back pain isn’t usually associated with Cipro, and it’s pretty common in the general population. You probably have “ordinary” back pain (which can be pretty miserable).
Possibly kidney stone pain?
I have severe lower back pain when I have pouchitus. It only hurts when the pouchitus flares up. When I use Canasa suppositories that treat the inflammation it makes the back pain better. This is how i figured out the pain is coming from my pouch.

Holy! I could have written this same paragraph this week. I too have been on long term Cipro for chronic pouchitis which is controlling it beautifully, but now have lower back pain. I am dying to know what ended up happening with you ( as I see it's a June 2018 post). I Hope you got answers and are better. Still on Cipro? Thanks.
Hi - just to let you know the back pain did dissipate over time so I don't think it was really tied to the Cipro. Must have pulled something but for now my back pain is no longer giving me a problem. Hope you improve soon as well.
