Hi all,

Just wanted to share good news!

Quick history -
Step 1 Surgery: June '13
Step 2 Surgery: Sept '13
Pregnant: Sept '13 (2 weeks post surgery! - oops)

1st/2nd trimesters - Went well overall. I took an antibiotic every day (switched mid pregnancy to avoid resistance) for pouchitis. Dealt with morning sickness, but nothing terrible. Headaches were pretty consistent in 2nd tri.

3rd trimester: Again, overall went well. Continued pouchitis and antibiotics to treat it. We drove from IN to CO on Tuesday (I was almost 36 weeks pregnant) and had our first visit with a Dr here on Thursday.

Due to preeclampsia our baby girl was delivered via c-section on Thursday 4 weeks early!

She is healthy and such a content baby.

C-section details: Quick and easy. The OBGYN doing the c-section anticipated a long c-section due to scar tissue. However, (I give my CRC credit for this) there was no scar tissue. Everything looked normal except one spot near the ostomy site. We were done within an hour.

Recovery: I'm obviously only 3-4 days post delivery, but I must say that overall the recovery has been easier than prior abdominal surgeries. I had A LOT of air in my abdomen that is/was hard for me to get out via the pouch. When I eat I have symptoms of UC come back, but that is subsiding day by day. I would say the hardest part of this recovery thus far would be the air in the abdomen. Once it's out I think I'll be great! I feel like I'm retraining my pouch like I did post surgery #2. No major incontinence, just pressure and struggles passing gas.

Hopefully this helps someone out there! She's a tiny (4 lb 7 oz) little miracle! Best of luck to all! PM me if you have questions!
