I am not sure avoiding stress is the correct topic, but any time I am upset about something, I have pain in my stomach.  I have tried taking anti-anxiety medications, but this is not particularly effective.  I am a bipolar patient as well.  I am just trying to see if anyone has any particularly effective method to deal with stress/upsetting issues or situations.  I find myself burping a lot when I find myself in this type of situation, and I am sure it has contributed to having ulcers in my pouch a year and a half after my reversal surgery.  I think focusing on the pain in my stomach has not been particularly effective.  i try to do crafts to calm myself, pray, and think only of the situation I am currently in (i.e., focusing on the dish I am washing and not upsetting things).  I just wondered if anyone had something I can do that is particularly effective.  Thanks for your help!

I know exactly what you mean! I, too, get stomach pain when I am upset ever since takedown surgery. I feel like this answer is almost too simple, but it's really been the only thing that helped me manage stress. Meditation. And I say that as a bit of a skeptic. But honestly, the difference in my stress levels between when I am meditating regularly and when I'm not is huge. And it helps facilitate/augment things like focusing only on what's in front of me etc. I just feel like I deal with life better when I take time out to meditate. If anything else comes to mind, I'll let you know! Or feel free to reach out if you want to talk more about it. I hope you get some good advice and find some things that work for you!
