So I had the seton put in for a fistula on 3/27. Things were looking good...
But now, it's been 2 weeks after, and it's like my J pouch is just shutting down. I can't pass gas, I can barely move stool out. I've had to resort to enemas to clear out what is in there and get relief.
Usually, my husband has called me his "rumble" strip because I can get stuff out there very easily and, ahem, loudly. But that's not the case now.
It's not getting better. At first I thought it was that the stool was too thick, but it's happening even when it's not. I'm being careful about foods, in fact, I'm barely eating at the moment, because this is all so terrible... after 20 years, and now it wants to quit doing its job. It feels like my pouch is no longer being "responsive."
My doctor is out of town, but his nurse is bringing my issues to his associate's attention. This all happened after an exploratory under anesthesia (conscious sedation) and being dilated to find the fistula tract inside the anal canal. The surgeon said my pouch "looked good."
Help!! PLEASE. Anyone ever have this, or hear of this happening to someone this far along? I'm just hoping that it wakes up and gets going, but it's been 2 weeks now since the procedure, and I'm in agony. It's like the pouch itself is suffering an ileus, where the rest of me isn't, and I'm trapping gas, too.
