Has anyone tried drinking apple cider vinegar? I had my take down about a year and a half ago and struggle with painful BMs, gas pains, cramping at the base of my spine from a previous abscess, rectal burning, etc. etc.. I'm in so much pain on a regular basis I often consider going back to an illeostomy. I started a ACV regime yesterday and have already noticed a drastic difference. Am I crazy or has anyone else tried ACV and notices a huge difference in BM?

I'm praying this is the answer for me. It's so hard for me to find any rhyme or reason to the constant pain I'm in. Any thoughts or experience anyone has in much appreciated!

Apple cider vinegar seems to be good for everything!  Its very acidic though, so I'd use mouthwash after (don't brush as that wouldn't wear the tooth enamel).  Also in guys I think drinking it has been linked to male health issues (prostate etc).  Really good that your experiencing the benefits.

Can I ask what brand you using?  I think the ones with 'the mother' in are considered best.  I have used Bragg's in the past to remove a wart.  This worked very effectively.  It seems there no end to the uses for ACV lol

Hello, Nicki.

Years ago I worked with a lady who drank Apple Cider Vinegar every morning. She didn't have a pouch, or any health issues as far as I know. She took it for health maintenance. She was the healthiest, liveliest lady I knew at the time, and she lived into her 90s. You couldn't detect the scent of vinegar on her, so she must have rinsed or had breakfast afterward. Try to get organic ACV, and if you see the cloudy mass or sediment at the bottom, it's harmless, don't worry about it or try to filter it out. As Bobish said, that's the "mother" of the vinegar; people believe the mother, a result of the fermentation process, contains healing properties. The ordinary, cheap white vinegar (not the same as ACV for drinking) that is I use for household cleaning and final laundry rinse has the mother too. Let us know how it goes!

I have actually planned to start taking it daily for general health as well.   I'm curious to see the effects it might have on gut health...I wonder if it works similar to a probiotic since it is fermented.  It works wonders for a completely stuffed sinus when you have a cold.  ACV + Hot Water + Honey = disgusting, but instant relief!!

Poucho, Lemon juice can dissolve tin foil.  Stomach acid is much stronger than that!  Apple Cider vinegar is much lower down on the scale.

Also the point of the Apple Cider vinegar is it burns the mole or wart off.  Yeah it irritates, it even hurts a little, the point is it kills living tissue, and when it dries out it drops off.  Gastro tract is designed to handle very strong acid so drinking it isn't necessarily a problem.  That said, personally I wouldn't drink it long term.

Without saying anything about the alleged medicinal properties of ACV, I'll point out that the esophagus is definitely not protected against acid. It's really only the stomach and duodenum that handle extremes of pH well. I'm not saying that ACV will injure your esophagus - I don't know that - but stomach acid sure does, if it gets there.

I believe the ACV is diluted 1 Tbsp. to at least 8 oz. of water. Nicki, I dont know if all the claims about ACV are true or not, but I am glad that you feel it is helping you. That said, maybe checking with your doctor to make sure it isnt going to do you any harm wouldn't be a bad idea. I know all of us here have been through alot and are always searching for something new to improve our health and thats good, but its good to be safe also. I do hope you continue to feel better. Good luck to you.

I have vinegar nearly every day. Typically, it is in the form of oil & vinegar salad dressing. Plus, I eat lots of acidic fruits, including tomatoes. What I don't do is drink vinegar all by itself. I tried it for a while when I was young (can't remember why, but it was for some health benefit). I saw. No difference in my health or life.
