It is my favorite food. When in the States, my absolutely favorite food is the roasted chickens from Costco...I go nuts and eat pretty much nothing but 1/4 chicken for lunch and dinner, sometimes nibbling on the wings in the afternoon...I usually add some cherry tomatoes, cucumbers or bag salad, papaya, banana and some other easy fruits and veggies...my pouch adores me when I eat that way...it hates me when I eat carbs!

Funny that you mention Costco's roasted chickens because I have a friend who is obsessed with their roasted chickens. He eats them 2 or 3 times a week. Gets 2 meals out of it and freezes the bones for soups. He told me he slathers the chickens with some kind of Portuguese hot sauce and then reheats them on his grill. As a matter of interest this friend has Crohn's Disease.

I occasionally buy those roasted chickens at my local supermarket which does a fairly good job with them.

I also make soup out of the carcass that is left after the chicken is consumed. Usually I will leave a little meat for the soup as well. My local supermarket sells packages of fresh soup greens, consisting of a parsnip, a turnip, an onion, celery, carrots and dill. It's sufficient for one large pot of chicken soup. I usually make some matzoh balls to go with the soup but you can also boil some egg noodles if you need to throw some carbs in there.

I could kill for one of those chikens right now and yes, I know of nothing better for my unhappy pouch than a couple of weeks on them (1 lasts 2 days)...I throw an onion, carrot, celery, parsley etc into a pot with a carcass and make great soup too (pouch freindly too)...and add those tiny rice pasta that plump up well...fabulous when my pouch is suffering from pouchitis. (I like matzo balls too...they are also very pouch freindly but only 2 at a time).
If you add a tsp+ of yellow soup powder to the mix you can kick up your electrolytes in a flash!

Yes.

And chicken soup has been great on my pouch. I'm just
finishing up week 13 and have been making up a batch of
fresh, homeade chicken soup regularly for the past five
weeks. If you don't make your own stock the swanson Certified
organic stock is good. I thow in organic potatos, carrots,
leeks, celery and slice up a free range boneless, skinless
chicken breast and let it simmer for four or five hours.

Just made up a fresh batch this afternoon and had it for dinner
tonight.
