Hello all, I had my reversal surgery in January and am now working on chronic pouchitis.  I tried several rounds of antibiotics and that worked for a couple days and then the pouchitis returned with a vengeance (also, pro tip for any weightlifters, don't try to hit your 1 rep max when on flagyl or cipro as you might blow a tendon).  Currently I'm taking VSL3 DS, double doses of humira (I was already taking this for spondylitis), and budesonide.  I've been on that regime for a month.  At least one of those things is helping, but I'm still having frequent diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and 1 or 2 bloody BM's/day.  I've been seeing those commercials for Viberzi for IBS-D.  It is a recently FDA approved med and is supposed to help with abdominal pain and diarrhea.  I know its intended for IBS patients, but do any of you have any experience with this med?  I'm considering asking my GI, but would like to get some real-life feedback first.

I'd welcome any other suggestions as well.  Thanks.

I experimented with it a couple of months ago on the advice of my PCP, but did not find it to be particularly helpful for me. It made me feel quite drowsy and somewhat constipated. But you may still want to give it a try as our (pouch people) response to drugs seem so individualistic.

One thing to consider is the cost. It was still so new that it was not covered by my insurance plan. Fortunately my PCP had a coupon good for a free first prescription - otherwise it would have cost mega-dollars.
