I just turned 30 and I’ve had my j-pouch since I was 16. I feel like I’m always semi-constipated even though I have to empty my pouch quite frequently. Also experience a lot of bloating and just general discomfort.

Any recommendations for something I can take daily that would make going to the bathroom a bit more pleasant and ease any kind of discomfort? I ordered some Metamucil on Amazon, hoping that will help.

My on/off constipation since birth was due to food intolerances. I was surprised this continued after having jpouch surgery 17 years ago. After I eliminated all dairy sources it got better. Dairy intolerance will give a person loose bowels or constipated bowels. If I cheat and do dairy once a month, I chew digestive enzyme tablets found at the all natural store that help break down things my body won’t digest. These are called papaya enzymes and are a lifesaver! Your new best friend seriously!

Oh yes!  That’s just regular milk with some medicine In it to help break down dairy. If your dairy is significant enough it will still bother you and beef will too. The whole cow will bother you sadly. But know our body takes chemicals from our bones to digest dairy in our bodies if we can’t break it down on our own and this process make bones brittle.
