Dr Remzi was very nice and thorough. He believes that my pouch grew up into my abdomen - twice - because the mesorectum was not removed and is somehow restricting the lower part of my jpouch. That restriction caused it to expand upward. OK. So does anyone else have any experience with this body part? It apparently is some fat with major arteries, veins and lymph nodes in it, that surrounds the rectum. Sounds like a dangerous thing to mess with. But he says it's got an 85-90% success rate. Two issues - chance of permanent leakage is 20% and the surgery is a series of three surgeries over nine months with a temp ileostomy lasting the whole time. Speak up if you've heard of this or had it removed. I'd be grateful to hear your experience.
