anus pressure right after j-pouch creation

i currently have a 19 day old j-pouch with loop ileo. my anus has had the urge to pass mucus on occasion starting right after my creation while i was eating less. my appetite is increasing and today the urge seems more consistent but not unmanageable. ive been consistently holding it for awhile then release the mucus when i can. does this sound normal. feeling good about keeping it continent but just wondering. did take a xanax for anxiety last night a felt too relaxed to hold it. didnt feel great but slept at least. also wondering if sugar increases anus/mucus activity in my situation. any thought?

from my understanding, AND my personal experience, it is absolutely normal....even after takedown i had pressure for a month or two...

i didnt pass much mucus until a few weeks before i was to have takedown, but its definitely normal sounding based off the way you describe it.

ill be traveling home 5 weeks after takedown and am nervous but if i have to wear diapers and crap myself so be it. we need our family back. love them sooo much...

It's totally normal. My surgeon failed to tell me I would be occasionally passing mucus so I freaked out the first time it happened and called the office where I was told its normal. A little is normal as well as a lot. Everyone is different.

And you shouldn't have to wear diapers 5 weeks after takedown so don't even worry about that. I had totally control from day 1 after takedown. Good luck!
