I am going to try to beat down cuffitis with anucort this time. The package insert says up to 4 a day can be used. If you have used it before for cuffitis or pouchitis or anything please tell me what dose you used and what problem you were using it for and if you had success with that dose.

I'll start of with my previous experience:

1 daily dose for cuffitis and didn't work

Thanks

I have used it up to three times a day (one in am and two at night....25 mg). I honestly did not find it helpful. The only thing that actually seems to help me was to STOP inserting any kind of suppository rectally as I was doing this for over a year with little to no success.

Oddly enough, now that my cuff is calmed my pouch is having a field day. I have constant cramps and increased frequency and keep going on and off cipro to try and help this situation. It is very annoying. The rectal pain has subsided, but the pouch cramping is so uncomfortable and the increased frequency will make you nuts.

Hope you get some help with the anucort.
I'm holding off taking Canasa as it contains mesalamine. It is the ingredient in Asacol. I took a boat load of Asacol 1997 to 2010 and then again when I started treating cuffitis again with Canasa in 2012. I have neuropathy in both feet, bad. Some days I have to use a cane and have a handicapped parking permit.

I found that a very rare side effect of mesalamine is neuropathy. There were years when I took double or more the normal dose of Asacol.

Jan found a few cases regarding this and in those the neuropathy presented itself right away and didn't build up slowly like mine has. Hopefully she is right. My neurologist said the damage can not be reversed. I need to find out what caused it so I can make sure it doesn't get worse and/or involve my hands.
