Antibotics and pregancy

Hi,

I am in my first trimester. I am think that I am starting to develop a case of pouchitis. I have read that Cipro is not recommended in pregancy. Is there an antibotic that is? How is pouchitis usually treated in pregancy?

Augmentin or amoxicillin is your best bet unless you allergic. In that case, there are some alternatives. Flagyl is ok in 2nd and 3rd trimesters.

DarcyB, I am in the same boat. Waiting for Dr apt to see what I can take. Did you end up taking something? Is it better?

I had Bactrim during my 2nd trimester. It was not for pouchitis - it was for a kidney infection. But it was safe and it worked! Good luck to you.
