I saw my GI on Tuesday.  My Calprotectin level was down from 421 to 258.  I was on 40mg-10mg for a month.  I felt great until 20mg. That ended 3 weeks ago.  A scope done about 5 months ago showed inflammation and a stricture at the afferent limb, no Crohn's. My pouch looked excellent.  My colorectal doc seemed unfazed by the information.  It's been this way for years.   I've used Cipro and Xifaxan as needed and it's worked well.  I used to use Flagyl, but developed an allergy many years ago.

My GI doc said that I can keep doing what I'm doing with antibiotics, but she really thinks that I should at least try Enytvio for 6 months to a year to see if things calm down.  She said that my colorectal doc is "Old School" (he's 74) and that the idea of using antibiotics for IBD is unhealthy and  "prehistoric" with all of the new meds and on-going research for new treatments.   She also believes that I have Crohn's even though the biopsies did not show granulomas, she relies more on what she sees on the scope and labs.

Scott,  I'm really perplexed.  I don't take biologics lightly.  She said that they are very safe and have great efficacy. Your thoughts are always the voice of reason in a sea of chaos!

THANKS!!!
