Hi Guys,

Had my 6 month blood a couple of days ago and found out my HG levels have dropped from 160 down to 112. Did some additonal testing today and found my Ferritin level was 5!
I've read that this form of Anemia is a marker for Pouchitis...
Haven't noticed blood in my stool but I have felt a bit "off" lately - at first I thought I was a bit tired as I'm still getting up a couple of times each night for a BM as I'm only a couple of months post takedown.
Guess it's back to the Doc for some testing to confirm whether or not this is indeed pouchitis. Frowner
Anyone else been diagnosed with pouchitis after noticing these symptoms??
What are the next steps to confirm this??

I was just diagnosed with pouchitis and had accompanying iron deficient anemia ( Iron Serum 11, Iron saturation 2%, Ferritin 4, hemoglobin 10.7). I went to the GI and he set up an endoscopy and colonscopy. The colonscopy will confirm the pouchitis. I have both pouchitis and ulcers in the pouch. I had other symptoms as well-severe fatigue, dizziness, lightheaded, headaches, nausea, watery stools, and undigested food passing through. The GI put me on Flagyl as well as 325 mg of ferrous sulfate with 500 mg of vitamin C. I have been on this for two days now and I feel 1000's better. All the symptoms went away Smiler

Hope this helps Smiler

Thanks Heather...
That all sounds pretty familiar. The fatigue isn't what I'd call "severe" yet but I do feel a bit lightheaded and my stools are definitely less solid than they have been.
If this is Pouchitis I definitely want to get it nipped in the bud before it gets any worse. I was just starting to enjoy having my HG levels back to normal!
