Amazing lidocaine rectal cream!

It's prohibitively expensive, at nearly $30 a tube (30 grams), but after the silver nitrate to the perianal granuloma debacle I just suffered, I was desperate.

Prescription gel has routinely been 2% lidocaine and never has worked great. This one, called Recti-Care Anorectal cream, is cream and 5%.

It was so helpful when in pain! SO much better. It says can be used up to 6 times a day, and it didn't take much. Just a dab. Lists "pain, itching, and burning" as what it soothes.

Just a tip.

Rachel, I'm glad you found something that helps. Do you think it might be okay to use prior to silver nitrate application? Even if you have to wipe it off before applying the silver nitrate, the area would still be numb after it's had some time to work.

Maybe, sorta like Emla cream (which I have some of that, too). But I'm definitely waiting to give that site time to chill out. Today was back to my "normal" amount of pain vs the amped up anal chemical burn of silver nitrate!

It's built up scar tissue near the fistula/seton.
