allykat why in god name did your insurance change up thats awful..did they give you reason?..a i recall it cost me very little to just get it as my new rotation..actually way under my most i can pay of 150 dollars a prescription..but not sure why..i do not question it when its good..

you need to be able to take the full 1100 mgs i would think..maybe your insurance co could recommend how you might get help so you receive what you need..does anyone else have a suggestion for allykat on how to obtain her drug..

i am solo sorry you are feeling so down ..been there myself but been doing okay mentally for about a good month..probably has something todo with fact been relatively more consistent with rotating my antibiotics again..change every two weeks..hoping that holds on the ones i switch..still doing my diet because it makes no sense to me to intentionally eat things that feed bad bacteria although the diet in and of itself it not controlling all symptoms anymore..it may seem like punishment i suppose ( feel we hardly need anymore of!!) but i just see it as its the way it is..

maybe if you haven`t considered it might be time to address your mental state of mind..sounds like you are feeling that hopeless feeling and that is depression..been there done that one too..its important for us to keep up the balance when dealing with chronic problems and adding financial ones as well..there has to be a way for you to get the drug reasonably..

have you looked into getting them with prescription from a florida source i have for getting drugs from overseas very reasonably..i need two drugs for chronic sinus issues and where as it would be over 200 each for a month they get it for me 3 month supply for 99 dollars..

if you are interested please let me know and i will get you tel. number to call..need to look it up..
ISU i too rotate antibiotics dr. is correct most of us with refractory pouchitis need to do that but unlike you if the xifaxin is just not working as well as the other you rotate stop taking it even at three times a day and use another one to rotate..cutting off your nose to spite your face is not necessary i think..nor i think is it going to make a big ,big difference because xifaxin does not go through blood stream but directly to gut..doctors love it ..but if it does not work it does not work!!!i use amoxicilln, reflex and tinderbox and levaquin..

am starting my first day on xifaxin..550 mil twice a day..seems to be the going prescriptions .. to see if i can make two weeks but if it goes south i will drop it like a hot potato and rotate on next one..it has not been very reliable for me before and years since i tried it again..
All the other antibiotics give me awful yeast infections. And xifaxan works great but I did this to myself. My old insurance policy was dropped due to Obamacare restrictions. It didn't cover children's dental. Well no one but me payed for my kids teeth. Now this new plan super sucks and I'm sick again because of it. I have augmentum in the house so I might have to bite the bullit and hope that the xifaxan kicks in again after a round of this. Thanks I'm going to call Florida and I am seeing the doctor Friday to have her fill out patient asst so hopefully they will give it to me. It will take 2 months for a years worth of meds if I qualify.
yep sounds like you are on overload..buying,selling a house rates right up there with stress levels..all of us with refractory pouchitis are walking fine lines when there are other big stresses in our life and we can count on them ..its part of life..thats why its so important for us to feel some continuity with our pouch care..that is what we all are looking for of course.. its a bad place we find ourselves for sure..

and keeping other stress levels down is not so easy...

curious if that florida co can get you the brand not the generic of xifaxin..i suppose they would have told you if they did however..the generic would not be harmful but it may not work so cheaper is not so good..maybe assist program best way to go..

by the way you talked about insurance and even when i had private insurance(now on medicare) we had no coverage for dental ever!!!and i had a really good insurance..
I've been on Xifaxin for 3 months and it is finally working for me, I had to add Entocort to the mix to get a good response.

I have the same problems as AllyKat with the other antibiotics they give me yeast infections (Thrush) if I am on them too long. I end up treating the Thrush and the medicine instantly makes my pouchitis worse.

I was just looking at my Pharmacy claims at my insurance company's website and they were charged $1,707 for a 30 day supply for Xifaxin and they paid $1,436 for it. Fortunately my copay was $50 for the month.

My insurance company paid $1,044 for the Entocort. It's crazy.
