before all of my surgery’s I used to be a beer drinker,I loved my cold beer. Drinking beer now causes pouchitis so no more beer. Is there any form of alcohol that doesn’t cause problems? Does anybody have any suggestions? I’ve never been a heavy drinker but it’s nice sometimes to catch a little buzz. O and in case it matters I have a BCIR.

I lost my thirst for alcohol so I don’t drink much if any. But I found Vodka the only drink I can tolerate without having a bad night. I even tried Bailey’s. Nope just Voka with some tonic and has no effect on my pouch. But it does make me happy😊
I found the more heavily filtered beers to be best, like Coors light was my choice, heineken was good too, almost seemed like gluten free beers were best, corona is another one. The heavy wheat and other unfilitered beer is not good. I was a heavy weekend warrior up until 6 months ago when I had to start taking antibiotics due to chronic mild pouchitis. I have to wonder if the huge amount of binging triggered the pouchitis, too little too late for me I guess. Im sure a normal small amount of beer shouldnt be too harmful though
Beer gives me horrible gas and cramps with my pouch. Vodka, gin, crown royal, wine. . .no problems.
Well sounds like I’m gonna try good ol vodka and cranberry. Guess I’ll see what happens. Thanks people
I can do vodka, whiskey , rum, cold beer easily. I dont drink too much beer at most 1 bottle of any strong beer. And I always eat chips or fries or anything on the sides. I just dont like its taste too much so that helps to get it in. I do feel bit gassy with beer but its hardly noticeable.
No problems with our great belgian beers, no more than 3 pcs and combined with crisps is my pouch is happy 😃
Miller Lite nvr bothers me. I've been able to drink all alcohol, wine, hard mixed liquors; but, limit it to 1 or 2 drinks. NVR excessively. Not worth it.
Try to take 2 Peptos before you drink and that should help. I still drink beer but get gas.. Tequila and sugary liquor gives heartburn, Patron I will suffer through just try to eat and have a full belly when you start.
