Ok i have been feeling bad leaking and than having accidents little fervor. Not a lot of cramping because i am already on Belladonna/Opium every 12 hours.
I know its pouchitus so i e mailed my doctor at Cleveland clinic and asked him if he call me in something he knows my history. I have always e mailed him and he has always e mailed me back and i CC the secretary that i talk with every 3 weeks to have my opium sent to me in the mail and that i get it filled.
So that was 8 am Thursday and no one e mailed me back. Call Friday morning at 9am and explained to the person i cc that did not here from anyone and could she look into getting him to call me something in? She said we will see what we can do. She never called me back or e mailed me. My local GI that i have had for 25 years just retired. I know i should have called my family doctor she knows my history but didn't.
So here is my problem of course its the weekend and nothing. This is were i need some advice i looked through all our old prescriptions and found one for my husband amoxacillion 850mg 2 times a day almost 6 full days. So i decided to take it was up to 2:30am not sure why. Took another one this morning and little dizzy and off balance and little shaky. This is what i am thinking that the 850mg is to strong and to half them.
I know dumb thing to do but cant afford to go to er it was dumb of me not to call my family doctor but my Cleveland clinic doctor has always come through.
So i know it was stupid but i did it any suggestions on what i did?
Little scared but its just a antibiotic right?

amoxicillin, although not optimal, is sometimes used with good results for pouchitis, the normal dosage for adults is 250g every 8 hours so perhaps you should subdivide better the dosage, but 850 2 times is the maximum dosage so I suppose is humanly acceptable.
and perhaps you could take some probiotics, there are tips in the forum for good probiotics at affordable prices in USA.

Yikes; How old are the pills? Amoxil loses its potency quite quickly and it could be that the antibiotic effect of the meds is not active anymore. Antibiotics should NOT cause shaking and dizziness. These symptoms might be attributed to dehydration and/or electrolyte imbalance.
Self medicating can be a dangerous thing (especially with antibiotics) as you have now masked any results you might get if the doctor wants to do a culture and sensitivity test.
I sincerely hope that you feel much better soon and that you are able to talk to one of your physicians but please be careful.

Thanks all yes i know it was a dumb thing to do. The medicine was only a month old. I am going to cut them in half and take it like that twice a day. I am feeling better now. I think it might of been i took all my many vitamins and my wellbutrin all at the same time.
I am feeling ok now no shakes or anything like this morning.
I will never do this again for sure.

I hope you are feeling better so this all turns out ok. Please call your doctor and tell whoever that since they didn't get back to you that you took took some leftover antibiotics and "please" they need to call you in the right kind for the rest of the time you need to take them.

You've only taken these for a few days right? So they can call you in the proper one for the rest of the time. If they press just tell them the truth, it wasn't an emergency but you were getting worse and knew you needed an antibiotic so took your husband's recent leftovers.

So dumb what i did. Was nauseated the whole weekend and had a major blow out last night the only reason i woke up is felt something wet. Jumped up got all washed up and had to get another blanket. So glad my husband is a sound sleeper.
My GI i had for 25 years has retired and my doctor at Cleveland clinic must be out of town. He always e mails me back and then when i called on Friday the women i always talk to said we will see if she will call something in and hung up. So i guess i should call her back today and ask her why no one even got back to me. I would of at least talked to my family doctor because it was Friday. Don't want to make the women at the Cleveland my enemy she is who i talk to every 3 weeks to get my medicine from. I don't have the pain and cramping but with the Belladonna/opium i might not feel it. Every time i go to the bathroom i have to change my pad leaking all the time. I guess i will call the Cleveland clinic and not mention the other antibiotic that i stopped yesterday unless she asks.
Why do i let this women intimidate me so much?

So upset right now i called dr at Cleveland clinic and was hold 10 so i had to hang up. I emailed the doctor and the women i deal with and told them about e mail on Thur and calling and waiting for them to call something in on Friday and they never called.
They just e mailed me that i have not been seen since 2012 so i need to make an appt. I sent them another e mail i was in 12-13 for a scope. I am asking for a antibiotic for god sake. Now my husband will have to take day off of work to take me there so upset. I am going to call my reg family doctor tomorrow when i know she is in office and see if she will call me something in that's crazy.

so sorry for your issues with dr. at cc..my doctor there is great..i live in cal. so he has always gotten back to me even if i was last there in 2012..

do not panic over antibiotic intake probably did no harm..the one you took is not unusual..but you do need to get on track again and since you live in ohio get in to see dr. there once you have things under control with drug..good luck

I only took the amoxicillin for a day and a half and then stopped. I know I did more harm than good. What do you do just keep getting sicker? I know I need to get new local GI doctor and I cant go to the Cleveland clinic my husband would have to take the day off and we cant afford it all for a antibiotic. I called am
nd left a message with my family doctor to see if she will call me something in. I cant leave the house due to leakage and accidents.
My life is just a mess and I try every day to make things better. Taking the Belladonna/Opium every 12 hours still makes me so tired and not able to make sence sometimes. I am on wellbutrin 100mg 3 times a day I chew them up. She just added Lexapro 20 to take at night and 1 mg Ativan only when I have aniexty attack maybe one a day. I talk to some one one time a week with a program with the college for 5 dollars for a year now. Its just to much some days and today is one of those days. my husband of 30 years has been my rock and I have 2 great sons that are the light of my lifes and that is truly what keeps me here anymore. I could never leave them.
Please forgive me for going on and on just feel very sick and alone.

Dear Frances,
Have they gotten back to you since you told them about the scope just 6 months ago? Did you see Dr. Shen then? I thought he was the one that prescribes you opium suppositories so don't understand why the nurse is going you such a hard time. Please be the squeaky wheel, but do so nicely. I'c advise you to call, versus emailing, and stay on hold for however long it takes you to talk to someone or leave a message. My neurologist's nurse told me that their office takes telephone messages more seriously than emails and that I am to call if I have an immediate need. I don't know if that is the case there, just assuming it is. Who knows who is answering those emails.

As far as the wellbutrin, to you really chew them? I take 150 mg 3 times a day but don't am not supposed to chew them. Just wondering, maybe it is because you have such a fast transit time.

Is there anyone else that can drive you to CC, a son, daughter-in-law, friend other family member? I'm just trying to help you cover all of your options.

My Internist would probably have me come in to see her and then call in the prescription, after looking it up. I have her copied on all of my visits to specialists and their reports so she has on file what my Mayo GI has prescribed for me and the treatment he has me on. Hopefully your PCP has similar reports. You will might need to go in for an office visit with her/him, but it's not as far as CC.

I read it and I will do anything to be healthy. This is the first case of pouchitus in almost 3 years. My husband and don't eat any red meat for the last 8 years and we really try to stay away from sugar. We eat salads everyday made only spinach and fresh vegetables.
The stress thing really caught my eye I have been under a huge amount of stress for over a month now. I did think that it might have something to do with it. My husband teaches yoga and I go to his wed night class.
Since I stopped working 3 years ago I have gained almost 50 pounds never in my life have I ever weighed this much even when I was 9 months pregnant.
I take care of my mom who is very ill. I would love to flush all my meds down the toilet.
My sister has a friend who is a nutritionist so I will be meeting with her soon.
Its funny you said walking I walked for 45 min on a track near my house with my car right there in case I need to leave in a hurry. I am going to try and do it every day.

I have been trying to get a antibiotic for 5 days now.
Gave up on the Cleveland clinic dr shen is out of town. No they never got back to me after I corrected them about seeing them 12-13 last year.
I called my reg family doctor and told her everything so she called in some liquid antibiotic of course they had to order and will not be in until tomorrow afternoon. So 6 days for a antibiotic. My GI doctor I had for over 25 years who I loved retired. Tomorrow I am making an apt with someone that comes recommended in his office. So I will have a new local GI doctor. Very disappointed with Dr Shen staff I talked to his secretary on Friday and she told me she would see about getting something called in and then heard nothing. I love dr Shen but not some of his staff.

Thanks so much TE Marie and everyone. For the first time in a long time I don't feel all alone. I found a support group and went twice and it was the same two women but they canceled it because no one else came. I know its a hard subject to talk about I know there are a lot more people near me. I would love to talk to others. But you all have been so great. Well it took me only 6 days to get my liquid cipro. But thank god I got it I just hope I don't end up in the hospital from dehydration trying to keep up has been hard. Does anyone have some suggestion on what to put on your bum when its so raw from going all the time.
