Hi,
I've had UC for over twenty years now. In 2011 - 2012 I had three surgeries - colectomy, j-pouch surgery, and then the reversal.
I have had cuffitis pretty much since my last surgery in March of 2012.
This year has been bad - tons of bleeding, up to 50 bowel movements a day, constant pressure to go etc. Now I just don't eat and am wasting away.
My doctors and surgeons in Atlanta have tried every combo of drug/enema available to no avail. Pouch advancement seems to be my only option at this point.
I am headed to the Cleveland Clinic Tuesday. I chose the Florida location because I used to live in West Palm.
I am seeing Dr. Lester Rosen.
What should I expect? A consult/tests? How long have people typically had to wait for surgery? For "out of towners" is there a lot of back and forth? I am just wondering what to expect.
I am not thrilled about any kind of surgery far from home, but my doctors all agree this is the right move.
Thanks.
"My body hates me."
