Greetings

Any positive outcome using Humira or other biologic for refractory pouchitis?

I Have never been on a Biologic as they weren’t created when I was diagnosed in 1975 ( age 10 )

I had my pouch surgery at age 26 in 1991 for 32 years ( Mayo Clinic )

During Covid time had bouts of pouchitis ( treated with antibiotics on and off ) that eventually became chronic.  Recent tests have shown ulcers in pouch; MRI showed 14 cm of inflammation and scar tissue.

Needed a surgery and biopsy so we waited before starting the Humira.

I have begun taking supplements and I have had a significant reduction in bathroom visits

There isn’t much info online about Humira and pouchitis  but that is what my gastroenterologist is recommending

thank you

Karen
