Reducing Elevated calprotectin??

Hi,

My calprotectin is currently elevated. If it is still elevated or increases further at the next appointment or I become symptomatic I will need to start flagyl. Is there anyway of reducing an elevated calprotectin other than antibiotics?.

Hi Van,

If your reason for high cal protectin is pouchititis, you might need antibiotics to fight it. Others will weigh in on this

in my case, my high cal protectin is caused by cuffitis, and that inflammation is managed by canasa suppositories. My cal protectin numbers have been steadily dropping in the year since I have been on this medicine.

I'd say pouchitis, As I had it late last year as well. These current results were found on a routine test. I don't have any symptoms yet so that's why his going to wait for my next appointment and re test in a month.
