Given that it works in the samll intestine I would imagine we can absob Xifaxin like everyone else, but the tablets looks hard to digest so thought I would ask.

I tried it and I think they dissolved just fine, though it didn’t happen to work for me.
It didn't work for me either. The only thing that seems to work most of the time is a couple of Cipro twice a day 500 mg each. I'm now taking some Endocort along with the Cipro, and I seem to be having fewer trips to the bathroom, firmer stool, more control and less of the burning "ah ha" (burning pain to the point of tears) kind of of moments.

Thank you! I am taking it for SIBO, not pouchitis.

Sorry to hear that, thanks for replying!
P.S. you're welcome. Just give it a try. I had no trouble with absorption. Xifaxin might work for you. We all seem to be different. Despite the fact that we are all have pouches, we all arrived here due to different medical histories.
Hi,
I have taken Xifaxin with no problem and had success with it. My Doc gave me a coupon to cover the copay. It can be expensive.
Good luck to you!
This was the best mediation for my pouch. I took it for years. Unfortunately I had trush, my dr took me off, I then had the flare from hell and never recovered on it again. Personally, after this I can to my own personal belief that antibiotics just mess up your new system.
