My husband is looking for an alternative for Ilex.  Ilex (paste) is great but (no pun intended) it is expensive.  He's tried other products and has found Balmex works some just not as good as the Ilex.  He uses the Balmex the majority of the time and the Ilex sparingly.   Can anyone recommend a product equally as good than Ilex that is less expensive?

Thank you

i just posted about this issue a few weeks ago here. I have only been able to find the tubes and they are like $40 a tube which is ridiculous. I have been looking the the 8 oz jar and nobody has it. and its like $100 which is insane. Ilex said they wont get it back in stock until after xmas and every 3rd party online store i have tried said they had it in stock and then 2-3 days after ordering it i get an email stating order was canceled as they dont have stock. I have used this since my redo surgery in 2015 and nothing compares to it. Even though people try to suggest other products that may be close , nothing is close to Ilex.  My issue is i get random minor leakage , any other products stay moist and then i cany tell if its the product or if i am leaking. With Ilex I always can tell the difference. this is very frustrating. 2 small tubes i bought were $100 with shipping and tax. a few years ago Edgepark medical supplies carried it and my insurance would cover it and only paid like $10 a tube and $20 for the jar but they stopped carrying it a few years ago so I have had to buy online since. sucks. let me know if and when you find any.. thanks

Hi everyone,  Thanks so much for your replies.  RHolt and Bubba1028 - I will order both products for hubby- hopefully one will be a good alternative.

Pouchomarx - My husband uses Metamucil in the evening 1-2 hours after dinner which helps him a lot.  Have you tried using Metamucil or something similar (Benefiber, Banatrol, etc.)?  He's tried the Benfiber and Banatrol but they didn't work for him.  Good luck.
