After 34 years I have my first case of pouchitis. What are the best things to eat right now.

There's no clear evidence that diet will change your pouchitis course. It couldn't hurt to add some yogurt or other food with helpful bacteria, particularly if you're treating the pouchitis with Cipro or Flagyl, as is recommended.
Thanks!
I agree with Scott.
From my own experience as well as hearing the same from many others in this group, I would stay away from sugar and alcohol and cook your veggies. Dairy and wheat can also be problematic.
Well-cooked quick oats help soothe my guts. Soluble fibers are good, as long as they are finely ground, like (organic-best) psyllium powder. 100% pure aloe (without citrus) helps me with inflammation. They say avoid caffeine for general gut health, but I haven't managed to make it there. I will have some time to myself to experiment with caffeine's effects this summer. I will share what I find.
Sorry you got pouchitis. I get inflammation and aches in the pouch area (vague pressure, feels like the pouch is irritated by holding just a little bit of waste and wants to be emptied more frequently) but I'm never sure if it is pouchitis. I never take antibiotics, as they tend to cause long-term, systemic issues for me, but I wouldn't say no to them if I thought I had a full on infection. The discomfort comes and goes-it moves around my guts evasively, like a ghost, and sometimes disappears completely. What does actual pouchitis feel like?
I’m getting a cat scan Tuesday, I’ve not been diagnosed by my gastroenterologist yet. The scan in hospital last week said it was.
What are your symptoms? I'm extremely curious-there are lots of things about this condition that seem pretty nebulous to me.
J pouch pain, bloating, weight loss. I became dehydrated I hadn’t been able to eat for four days and was hospitalized. Trouble emptying my pouch, sensation of a band squeezing my pouch painfully for hours. I just feel lousy. I’ll see what my scan with barium contrast says.
Thank you so much for your description, and yikes! That sounds horrible and I'm so sorry! I guess I have only had more mild forms of inflammation in that area. I have had partial bowel obstructions and those are really awful and painful. Are you in the hospital now?
Happily not.
