This excellent symposium--“The First Annual Dr. Victor Fazio Symposium in Diagnosis and Management of Ileal Pouch Disorders”--was held 17 and 18 Sept 2021.  Links to the two half day discussions are listed below, as is the agenda.  The symposium is intended for medical practitioners and for patients, so please do not think it will be only medical terms beyond your grasp.
I did not zoom into all of the presentations so can't list all the topics covered.  However, I know Dr. Kiran talked about K-Pouch construction in Friday's first session, and Pouchitis and treatment was in that same day's second presentation.  Much more.
There will be another symposium within a year.  There is no charge.   A wonderful way to honor Dr. Fazio!  Be well, Jan

Thanks for posting the link.

Very well done seminar. I actually saw Dr. Shen a few days before the seminar for my scope and he told me about it. I actually understood quite a bit of the different talks. I guess having a pouch for 20 yrs and having been on almost every med (mentioned) for pouchitis gave me an advantage!! (not really an advantage I would choose)

Dr Shen is really amazing.  He also told me how he gathered 37 GI docs to collaborate a document that insurance companies will use for prescribing and covering different drugs for IBD. Dr Shen is very happy at Columbia, since he said Cleveland Clinic was losing all his surgeons. (several are at Columbia, which is why he is there)  He has gathered a wonderful team for scopes and his nurse, Abby even commutes from CLe. to NY. (twice a month)

If you have any questions about going to NY to see Dr. Shen, please post your questions.

Just found this post. Thank you so much for posting it. I'd seen the post for the up-coming January program, have that on my calendar and  shared it with my local GI group.  Educated patients are important partners in their own care, but including them in medical programs at this level is rare. What a great program Columbia has developed.
