Hi Jpouchers, had my take down in 2016 and life is good. Have played tennis all my life and since losing the colon no matter how much electrolyte drinks I have I end up feeling very sick and have to stop playing on the hot day >30 deg Celsius. Anyone got any tips? Thanks

How old are you, how long are you playing for, and how extensive are you playing, is your weight normal, any other physical issues???
55, comp days are 4.5 hours of tennis 2 matches (doubles only). No problem when its not hot.

As we age we have to take it easy. 4.5 hours is pretty extensive. Its not reccomended for J-pouchers/ostomates to do extensive exercises since we are more delicate. It can cause a lot of issues when we do extensive stuff. I would recommend to have shorter sessions. I think the heat in addition to everything is making it worse,
Ok thanks, the tennis is come so I cant control the length. Might have to stick to winter.

Yeah, might be better! Too bad it cannot be shorter, be careful- remember, not to extensive.
Is Emerald city in USA?
The one disability that afflicts almost all J-pouchers is an increased tendency for dehydration. Under normal conditions most of us do fine drinking plenty of water (or sports drinks), but 4.5 hours of tennis in very hot weather can be dangerous for people with colons, too. The loss of fluid and electrolytes is just too rapid for your body to keep up with. Is there any chance you could switch to indoor tennis? I know that’s not available everywhere, but it sounds like tennis is important to you.

I am not sure to be honest. I got that name because I am obsessed with, "The Wizard Of OZ" book series lol.
