I have yet to try ilex paste... just checked and I agree... very expensive...I am interested to see if there is a good affordable alternative. I am new to this game only 2 months post take down. Everyone recommends that Calmoseptine so I tried it for a week but no matter what I mix it with the taste was just horrible. After that first week I used it as directed and seems to work ok...been wanting to try this ilex paste but haven’t had it yet..

My surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic recommended their skin protection paste.  I believe it's made at a compounding pharmacy.  You could ask your doc for a sample, maybe?  As I recall (it's been quite awhile), it wasn't too outrageously expensive, and it worked really great.  (My dr. is Tracy Hull).

I have been using their paste along with all the others, and I don't like it. I want something that dries like Ilex. I have to use it daily and I don't like that squishy feeling in my butthole. I live in Cleveland so I know all the docs lol

I have yet to find a decent alternative. I found and tried Medline’s Z-Guard Paste because it’s primary ingredient—like Ilex— is white petrolatum. But does not dry like Ilex. I finally asked my doc for a 90-day prescription of Ilex even though not covered by insurance. However through CVS I got the price for 6 tubes (90-day for me) below $18 per tube. Still expensive but $4 less than amazon.
