How does alcohol affect you? Can you feel the effects faster with a j pouch or a colon? Just wondering how it effects you.

Same effect as before surgery- same threshold of tolerance. I do have issues digesting red wine. It seems like I have problems with the tannins and as a result have diarrhea. I drink all other liquors and now that I am off methotrexate don't have a drink limit.
My weekly spending on liquor went down 80% once bars and restaurants closed due to Covid. Most of my drinking is done there and not at home.
I never drank having a J-pouch, almost 6 years of no alcohol. Alcohol dehydrates you, I would definitely not recommend that. But if you cannot help it, drink a glass of water with every drink.
I don't drink much either. We live by a large lake. Last Saturday, we went out in our boat. It was sunny and in the mid '80's.. i had a drink and didn't feel well. I know I got a little dehydrated. I was just wondering if it affected other people like that. Not doing that again

Sorry that happened to you! I am glad you are better now. Alcohol is definitely not good for J-pouchers. We get dehydrated too easily.
Alcohol has a dehydrating effect- as does caffeine- which can be counteracted by drinking a lot of fluid. I think there is wide individual variance in the degree to which we get dehydrated and some may be more sensitive to the dehydrating effects than others. It can also be exacerbated by heat and a lot of physical activity.
I do drink mostly water. From now on, it was be only water while boating.

It doesn't take much Alcohol to go to your head when you have a j-pouch. I drink, a few a month. Ive come to realize that rum makes me ill, vodka is my choice of drink now
