Hello everyone. I had my jpouch surgery and takedown just about a month ago. Since then I have gotten slightly better in some pain areas which is good.

However, I am still dealing with crazy butt burns. And for more than a week now I've had the most insane itching. It is SO INSANE and an irresistible urge to scratch. And frankly, it is driving me absolutely crazy. For several nights I've had absolutely no sleep because I can not find peace. The itching is so intense it almost paralyses me and makes me hyperventilate. It just comes out of nowhere and NOTHING makes it stop.

I have tried several barrier cremes, inotyol, numbing creme and my own beeswax/honny/olive oil mixture. Nothing works!

Please, does anyone have any solution for me? Due to the the coronavirus outbreak in Denmark I am not able to seek any healthcare or contact any doctor; our country has shut down.

Is your stool watery or thicker? I had takedown 2 1/2 weeks ago and my stool has been pretty thick from day one, to a point I dont use immodium or metamucil and at times still difficult to pass. I have not had butt burn at all (hope that stays that way) and think maybe the thicker stool has contributed to that. I also still have a pretty bland diet with no spicy foods or tomato based.

My takedown was 10 days ago, and I have been using a bidet since day one. It worked well for burning except for the first couple days after I started eating. But yesterday itching started,  and it might be a fungal infection due to moisture from the bidet. Patting dry with TP was not enough apparently. Now, I throughly clean with a hand bidet, around 3-4 times refilling the bidet bottle, and pat dry with TP, and blow dry with a hair dryer afterwards. It is a long ritual, given that I go more than 10 times a day. I have zero burning left and a little bit of itching which I hope will go away with an anti fungal cream. I also use warm water with the bidet, which works better than cold water, I think.

Do you have a plastic bidet bottle? That was a Lifesaver for me. Use very warm water in the bottle and dry your skin very thoroughly before applying a barrier cream. If you put cream on damp skin, you risk a fungal irritation, which thrives in dark, moist areas of the body.

Thanks for your answer Winterberry. I do have a plastic bidet bottle for when I leave my home. However, at the moment I just use my shower after each time. Sometimes I find that the water feels good, sometimes it hurts a little.

Thanks for your answer! My stool is thicker (even though occasionally it is more soft). I have never used immodium or metamucil (I am actually not even sure what they are). Maybe thicker stool is better - however sometimes I feel a little uncomfortable when it gets difficult to pass.

Thanks for your answer Elif. I did not use bidet since day one. But I've used water only and absolutely no paper/wipes for the last two weeks. Thanks for the advice. I will start using a blow dryer as of today!

You can try a feminine itch product such as metronidazole, Gina-lotrimin, clotrimazole etc. It's sold over-the-counter and most stores carry them. These eliminate yeast infections and relieve itch. They also help with butt burn, though there are other products to relieve this.

Appreciate your answer roseviolet. I just got my hands on "Doloproct" today. I will try the products you mentioned if this doesn't help anything! Thanks!

If you start shaving it can get itchy if u don’t keep up with it. I’d also try the Lotermin and the water/bidet and see if that helps. Since you have a bit more acids in your stool, your butt needs to get used to it. It’ll calm down.

Aftwr one of my obstructions, when I was in the hospital, my nurse gave me Coloplast Barrier Cream and it worked well.

If I go rashy- bc I didn’t wipe well (it happens), I use my baby’s Triple Cream and that works wonders.

the other thought is maybe you have a little inflammation in the rectum of your pouch? That causes super itchiness for me. Your doc can help determine if that’s the case. Good luck.

Here's a reply I posted to a similar question.  Sorry for the "used" comment, but saves a lot of typing:

So sorry this has become chronic for you.  It happens to me maybe once every two or three months.  I think I have it narrowed down to eggs.  Anyway...the pain is simply indescribable, but I'll try: it's like a breathing-paralyzing, wide-eyed, out-of-body experience, spinning-through-the-Milky-Way-seeing-stars type of pain.  The bidet helps all of the normal stuff except this.

I recently found the one thing that has cut the pain to the point where I can breathe again:  5% lidocaine cream in the hemorrhoid department at Walgreen's.  Walgreen's brand.  Around $20 for the tube.  I'm sure any 5% lidocaine cream will help, but I've never found 5% anywhere else.  4% is prevalent, but not 5%.  I haven't inquired, but I suppose my GI doc could prescribe something even stronger if it's available.  Anyway...after bideting and drying, yes, it does need to be applied "inside".  But, it works.

I am two months post takedown, so I still go very frequently. Since the pandemic, I started using washcloth sized towels to dry myself after the bidet, due to lack of toilet paper. They helped a lot with the itching caused by yeast. Towels dry much better than any paper product. As soon as I switched back to using paper towels last week, -I was tired of laundering the towels-, insane itching me back. So I ordered a 60 pack washcloth towels from Amazon immediately. They don't get disgusting with a single use after a long bidet session, barely any visible pop on them, so I wash them with underwear. The white ones can be bleached in the wash, if one needs to do it, but they look perfectly clean after a long hot wash in the washer.

Hello everyone!! Nice to been on this groups. I have my surgery on 2003. Been a while for me. I been used it to the bathroom. But I been always go mostly watery. One of the lady told me to use Meta Mucil. I been using it, drinking a glass before I eat. I just see the after I eat I get stomach pain. Just wonder if someone else feel the same. Never have stomach pain before. So I wonder if because I never took this before.
