I told my GI's office that I think I have a fissure. A month ago I had shoulder surgery and was on hydrocodone for two weeks. Concurrently, my rheumatologist doubled my sulfasalazine dosage. With that combination, my stools became solid and very difficult--if not impossible--to expel without straining. Additionally, my pouchoscopy report from March stated that I had mild narrowing of the anastomosis, which I feel has contributed to my situation. Now I'm bleeding if I strain in the least and elimination feels like I'm pooping glass shards. Isn't that the description of a fissure? I didn't expect my GI's office to reply with a prescription for Canasa. Anyone had Canasa prescribed for a fissure?
