Im supposed to rotate between amoxicilan and Cirpo with a month break between them but Im about 6 weeks from last antibiotic cycle and still feel pretty decent with frequency levels still fairly low and only ocasional mild jabs of pain.  Am I doing myself more harm than good attempting to stretch out antibiotic use?  I would ideally like to only take them every 2-3 months.

Depends on what kind of solution you're looking for here. Many guys have been doing well on many years on continuous antibiotic use. I personally feel I should induce foreign substance as little as possible. My experience with UC taught me one thing steroids/ antibiotics could never heal me, if anything they just made me more dependent on them with every passing day. So even with one bout of pouchitis I just fasted for an entire day eating only bananas and breads. I went against my GI's recommendation to have a course of 7 days of antibiotic. When I told my surgeon he laughed at me. He thought its silly to assume antibiotics cause harm. But he also said for what its worth if you can somehow cure it without meds its always the better choice.

I considered myself very healthy at that point so I took the decision. I knew I could handle the extra bms with a day of rest. So it all comes down to how well I am, what I am feeding myself and how far I am willing to go.

Take as low a maintenance dosage as you can. If your frequency increases and you become incontinent at night resume the antibiotic regimen. I have been on antibiotics continuously for 25 years to treat Pouch inflammation. It’s always the strategy to try to get by with as little as possible but once you notice slippage be as proactive as possible in treating it.
