Hi everyone. I was admitted to the hospital after an emergency room visit on monday afternoon, for a blockage. After a few different x-rays and multiple blood test and the consults between GI and my surgeon, they have made the decision to make Friday the goal for the scope. I've had a Ng tube since I got here and an IV . I scared to death. My surgeon told me worst case. That the nerves never woke up in my j pouch after surgery, in which case they will disconnect it. The thought process along with that is because it never really functioned properly, a large amount of stool backed up, hince the blockage. Of course it could be scare tissue or narrowing above the pouch. I don't know, I only know I'm terrified. Has anyone else ever had an experience like this? Or any thoughts. If so please share. Thank you in advance.

Hi Aimee,

I wish I'd seen this last week when you posted. What did they find out when then scoped you Friday?

I hope they figured out the problem and can get your j-pouch to work. I lost my j-pouch after 5 years and have an ileostomy. There are others on here that have similar stories and there some good threads about this that you might want to read. If you have any questions please ask and I will try to answer them.

Hi Te Marie, thanks for your response. My scope was Thursday morning. Apparently I have a stricture in my j pouch that closed to a pin sized opening. I was literally full of IT! Everytime I would call my GIs office, they would give me a script for flagyl. Anyway, after a week of Ng tube and countless enemas, they avoided surgery. I guess I will have to have the stricture stretched periodically. That will be done at the surgeons office. My was I scared. I wouldn't know what the results of the biopsy are until next week when I have an appointment with my GP. I was told my pouch looked good though . Thanks again for your reply. Hopefully things will look up from here
