So I recently had an appointment with my gastroenterologist who is keen to remove my seton which I had put in for a retro vaginal fistula many many years ago. My Recent MRI suggests the fistula is just anal now. He wants to remove the seton put me on strong antiobiotics and basically see how that goes. If that fails there was mention of some flap to try to close it. Years ago I had the seton removed and it was a fail and had to have the seton reinserted and I don’t remember the experience being a good one......ie the pain pre seton......waiting to be booked in for the procedure etc. Pretty much since my fistula diagnosis I have been told quite clearly they are near impossible to heal. So do I put myself through it again?????....
