So, I'm really scared. I don't now what to do with this...
Diagnosed with GERD years ago. Have had some close calls with vitamins getting stuck and sometimes food almost getting stuck in esophagus. 2008 was told I had hiatal hernia, so I attributed it to that.
But just had an endoscope and biopsies reporting Eosinophilic esophagitis. Mixed messages because I'm first told it's caused by allergies and being referred to an allergies. But then told it could be autoimmune, rather than allergy. Gastro doctor prescribed Flovent, a steroid, which I'm hesitant to use because of severe mood problems. And I really can't afford to have it mess with my brain right now.
Wondering if anyone else has had this and how they handled it. Supposedly, the new thinking is that it's autoimmune and doesn't stop at the esophagus, but whole gastro track is affected with this inflammation. I don't know what to do. I really didn't need another diagnosis and health problem right now. And a new diagnosis of something that can't be cured is scary. Especially since I can't find a clear answer online.
