Hi all,

I just saw Dr. Shen at the Cleveland Clinic and I have a prolapse with erosion in my pouch. Anytime i walk my dog or hike i bleed and get irritated. Has anyone had a prolapse? If so, what did you do to make daily activities more comfortable? Or what have you had done to the prolapse? Any advice is appreciated.

Also, I am trying to lose weight but am having difficulty because of the prolapse erosion bleeding when I walk or do cardio. Does anyone have alternatives that work for them? Dr. Shen also said I need a high protein low carb diet, but I'm concerned this will make it hard to lose weight. Any advice is appreciated on excercise as well as recipes.

Thanks!

Jackie

Hi, JackieS. If you are okay eating chicken, try a piece of chicken roasted or baked your favourite way is good protein and digestible. Eggs, scrambled with turmeric sprinkled on top while cooking (helps with inflammation). Firm tofu added to smoothies. If you decide to eat beans, chickpeas, lentil, etc., for protein remember it might be irritating because of the skins on each bean (beans are also carbs, but high in protein and filling). If you love butter, try replacing it with just-ripe avocado spread on your toast. Or, if you don't want to measure each and every bite you eat, try the plate method that most diabetics learn re controlling carbs and protein: Divide your plate in three sections, protein taking up half the plate and the 2/3 sections each with a vegetable, and a bit of carb. Diabetics use the half section for vegetables (we are not allowed too many carbs either!) but you can adapt it to your needs. Cut back or avoid white sugar, fructose, syrups. If you need a sweet taste, try raw unpasteurized honey in coffee and tea. Good luck with weight loss. Slowly but surely.
