Hi,

Doc comes in 2 hrs.

I had j pouch created last Thursday.  Everything is going well except I have been complaining of gas not leaving. Well I finally puked wed and now I'm stuck here.  They said it was an air bubble / my muscles are moving slow.  They tried an Nag tube but my nose is too small. Got the doc to do it to ensure there was a best attempt.  I am taking 1 pill every 8 hrs for pain and otherwise need nothing from the hospital.  They inserted a Foley to remove the air and it was worked fine.

I feel at or 100% better then my last surgery and I can't understand why they would keep me here. Especially in a critical care wing with dying ppl

Slightly concerned about losing my surgeon but atm but  if I had to pick between just sitting here waiting for them and going home.  I pick going home.  Simply cannot justify to myself spending tax payer money and missing my family so we can just wait it out.   I eleceted the surgery I should be able to elect myself out based I am feeling great. Puking once shouldn't justify a week in hospital

Food for thought: Vomiting after GI surgery when you are not passing gas rectally is an indication of obstruction. This can either be a physical obstruction or paralyzed bowel. There are numerous causes for this, some of which can become a surgical emergency and life threatening. The waiting game can be very boring and monotonous, but it is for your safety that you are kept in the hospital.

I think the only thing that might have been done wrong in this case, is poor communication with the patient. MCVM, hopefully things are working out for you.
