I'm just over 3 months post-takedown and the area where my stoma once was has recovered really well. All that's left is a small purple patch (which is actually beginning to fade around the edges because of the new skin) and also a VERY small scab which just doesn't wanna fall off just yet.

Would it be wise to have a bath as things are or would it be best to wait until the new skin has formed over all of it? Bit of a random question but I haven't had a bath since I was ill with UC in January 2015 and I really want one! Can't really relax in my shower.

I was never advised not to use the bath, but it was suggested, while the old Stoma site was still an open wound to not allow it be submerged under water.

Whilst the wound was healing and still covered with a dressing I was advised to keep the dressing applied while showering  & to remove the old dressing after my shower,  pat dry the wound area and have a new dressing applied.

Jordy, wouldn't worry about it mate.  As you know im in a similar position (3 months out with the same purple scar and same releuctant scab (i think there is a stitch right underneath, hench slightly slower to heal).

Ive been swimming and having a bath for weeks.  Mind you i have also been using bio oil, and those Chinese vacuum cups (used for massage, they suck the skin into a cup using a vacumm, intention is to get the blood flowing to the scar).  tbh i doubt thats made much of a difference to the physical bonding of the tissue, maybe it has helped a little cosmetically).

If you have any epsom salts lying around, they are both relaxing, detoxing and encourage skin healing AFAIK.  Chuck a cup in if possible :-)
