Good morning all.

I need some help, actually referrals.

My girlfriend is having a lot of pain, several tests proved it to be G.I. related.

My doctor is amazing Dr. Ulman from Mt. Sinai , problem is no one in his group takes her plan. She has the Blue Cross essential plan.

Not sure if I should take her to the Mt. Sinai clinic or try to find her a doctor who takes her coverage.

Does anyone in the NYC area know a good doctor who would take her coverage?

I appreciate all feedback

Thank you

Mike

Plain zinc oxide after each BM works well. Some folks prefer Calmoseptine, and some swear by Ilex. I liked an obscure one called Ferguson Formula, but I haven't needed it in years.

if none of these work, a more aggressive approach would be to ask your doctor for a prescription to try cholestyramine resin.

It's also possible you've developed a fungal infection that should be treated.

Good luck!

Hello, Shardoug.

What foods are you eating?  Can you give an example?

I found a small bidet bottle, or the bidet attachment for the toilet, saved my sanity. After washing and drying the area completely, I used zinc oxide (the brand for babies) and found it healed my raw, broken skin within hours. Until the skin is healed and intact, any liquidy stool passing over it will burn terribly.

Yes, trying the bidet and zinc.   Helpful at times,  not a cure. Rely on pain killers, codeine mostly for help through the rough hours.  will try Zantac, We asked about antacid...Dr. wasn't to keen on it. Its worth a try in my book.  Surgery date was Dec. 17, 2015. I am a year out. Its hell.....

How do most people handle fried foods?  Mostly meat and potato guy.  I am afraid of Mexican food or Asian.  trying to pin point the culprit. Could it be dairy?  raw fruits and vegetables ?

Do most people lose weight? 52 lb. weight loss 6"2  147lbs.  And how about taking supplements & probiotics. What about the lack of nutrient absorption ? Can this be an issue for people. We keep asking my Dr. and not getting anywhere with straight answers. Saw a nutritionist;  just speech  about eating more often, don't skip meals and make protein shakes for weight gain.  I have endured a bowel blockage with C diff infection. 6 rounds of antibiotics over  the past year.   Every kind of cat scan, mir and scope. They have said Pelvic Floor problem, need bio feedback therapy. Just about ready to jump. go to Mayo in Rochester MI for more tests tomorrow. My J Pouch was due to FAP. Our 3 daughters have tested Negative for FAP. We are so happy for them.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated

Shardoug
