I had a scope a few days ago. Everything clear. I had eaten lightly days in advance and emptied my pouch before the procedure. No enema. After the procedure we went for lunch and Christmas shopping, and was out for a total of six hours after the procedure. There was some urgency toward the end of the outing, but I was able to hold it. By the time I got home I felt very full inside, with a lot of pressure. The next day I started to have intense pain in one small area: on the right side of my anal area, toward the back, about an inch or so inside. It feels like a hot nail being driven in, and there is pressure in that spot. The pain is so intense and sudden it makes me yell, or stop in my tracks until it passes, usually in 10 seconds. When this happens (six or seven times an hour) gas pops out immediately afterward. Sometimes I need to pass stool, but there is no urgency, no leaking. It does not feel like a spasm because the pain is constant for 10 seconds, not throbbing or twisting, which I associate as a spasm (am I wrong?). There is no fever, no vomiting, no cramps, no bleeding, no loss of appetite. I haven't changed my diet. I have an appointment to see my surgeon in a few days, the earliest I managed to get. Does anyone know what this pain is?
On the day of the scope, I had just finished a course of Cipro (seven days, 2x250) because of pouchitis and was doing beautifully. After the scope and with this intense pain, I am back to loose, foamy stool, six or seven times a day, although no urgency, no leaking.
