Wondering if there's a connection between colitis and connective tissue issues: Trigger Finger

I had my first colitis problem within weeks of quitting smoking only to discover that the two were absolutely connected. Now, some 13 years after my pouch and at almost 74, I'm experiencing inflammation that's locking my fingers a la Trigger finger and wondering if this might be another connection. Thanks Folks.

I think I have read that there are some interesting alleged connections between nicotine and intestinal issues. Not that smoking is good for you, but I am curious if there were ever any test using, say, nicotine patches, as a treatment?
