Is this a blockage or pouchitis?

Since Monday I have had difficult BMs where I have the sense to go, but only a tiny bit comes out, the consistency of loose oatmeal. It feels like there is more inside but won't come out and I don't want to push hard. I've also had cramps, which I've never had since my takedown in April. There was mild nausea and had some dry retching Monday night, which has stopped. Able to drink, but no appetite to eat. When I do eat a bite, there is immediate mild cramping in my stomach that passes in a minute or so. There is constant leakage, and frequency but nothing more than a few tablespoons of loose stool comes out, so I've started Cipro just in case. Does this sound like a blockage that passed, or pouchitis?

Hello, Scott. I am scheduled with my surgeon for my regular scope the first week in January. I am thinking of calling the office and asking to move it to December if I don't improve by tomorrow. I also thought of a stricture, and the reason I'm hesitating moving up my appointment is the worry that if he dilates me I might end up with more leakage -- more than I've been experiencing constantly since Monday. Can heavier / more frequent leakage result from a dilation?

It could be either or both. Your best bet is to have a scope sooner, rather than later, even if you are improved. I was found to still have significant pouchitis even though antibiotics, azulfidine, and Cimzia were improving symptoms. My GI was not fond of me being on antibiotics all the time, so he put me on Imuran and Remicade. Doing better now without antibiotics.
