I will be having my take down of my ostomy on 11/15 and im remembering back in 2012 how bad the butt burn was. since then is there any new ways of making this better. And im also nervous for surgery since Dr. Remzi left the clinic and I work for the clinic its not like I can follow him. I have Dr. Ashburn who I trust but its different. Im just wanting the bag gone again. And hope that the problems stop.

It's been a week since my takedown and my butt burn has gone thankfully. All I did was have a non-sting ointment, sudocrem and flushable wet wipes. Take some good toilet paper into hospital with you, I noticed the difference straight away when I got home.

So just use a combination of wet & dry good toilet paper, flushable wet wipes, non-stinging ointment and any good barrier cream (I live in the U.K so I opted for Sudocrem). Apply the ointment and barrier cream together on to your anus after each bowel movement with a glove and you should see the benefits.

When I had the loop ileostomy, I endured excruciating painful skin damage around my stoma due to leakage; I tried every product available and only ilex protectant paste provided the relief I desperately desired.

ilex paste is also used to treat and prevent butt burn/diaper rash.

I just had surgery by Dr Ashburn last week. While a kind and competent surgeon, I will not be returning to her for my takedown. I had the worst experience at Cleveland Clinic and am looking to filing a lawsuit against them.  They have the worst aftercare I have ever experienced and I ended up leaving with a heart condition.  I will be posting my experience.
