Hi guys - I'm Dan, 32, and had an emergency total colectomy in April due to my colon leaking. My surgeon wanted me to wait a year to have the pouch surgery allowing me time to heal and lose some weight. This actually worked out well because I upgraded my insurance to the best ppo money can buy (I had an Hmo before) and will be eligible for Fmla again when it comes time to do the surgery. Now I'm on the hunt for a great gi doc and j pouch surgeon in the Los Angeles area. I live in Pasadena but can travel anyway in LA COUNTY and SoCal in general. I need your help and recommendations. I'm very nervous about the surgery and I'm looking to find the best doctors that accept a blue cross ppo. Thanks in advance!

Hi. I drive up from Ventura to see Dr. Ghassemi in UCLA. I'm also scheduled to have surgery o. The 25th of this month with Dr. Kazanjian he was highly recommended to me by many people. I've had a few visits with him already and he has been awesome explaining everything to me and never making me feel like he is in a rush like most doctors do. Dr. Ghassemi I have been seeing for about 6 years now   I was very unhappy with my GI out here in Ventura and I felt very blessed finding him that is the reason why I don't mine a few hours of driving to see them both. Even though I will be far from my family when I have my surgery I feel that I will be taken care of by my doctors in UCLA than any of the Doctors near me.
