Ok somebody please tell me I have not woken up with a colon again. I went to sons airforce graduation events yesterday. Took immodium on schedule, drank 6 bottled waters, avoided acidic foods but just had the worst diarrhea hit and at an event with so many people, line at ladies room so long. It was down my leg and I was just beside myself. Then, just now at 335 in morning again. I am emotional and a bit stressed but had experienced nothing like this since coming home from takedown. I had been doing well considering I started working ten hour day shifts and had been fine. Would not doing the metamucil cause that or maybe I got a bug? Its not possible to have real UC without a c, right?

I too am sorry to hear what you've experienced and I've no need to imagine it either or how you're feeling.

I experienced similar and at the time, I still had a colostomy bag.

For just short of 24 hours, I had to constantly empty the the bag, it will fill again before I was able to leave the bathroom.

Once the bout of diarrhoea began, the bags would fill to the point of bursting within minutes; looking like a mini airbag attached to my stomach.

Test confirmed it was some kind of food poisoning, normally associated with boiled rice....... I hadnt even ate boiled rice.

If still suffering from diarrhoea, you must replenish the fluids lost, especially electrolytes; dont do what I did and consume too much fluids, as doing so will dilute what remains of your electrolytes.

I ended up in hospital for IV rehydration and I had to take these horid brown Potassium tablet, the size of a ball bearings, which made me vomit.

One week after my first surgery I went back  to work at office - in the toilets my full  ilostomy bag fall down to the floor and u could imagine what a mess was there on the floor - I had to clean the floor before any body comes in the toilets - after that I go home changed my bag and went back to work - I should wait  until the second surgery to go back to work - avoiding the question of the other works about the bag that I have u under my shirt was very hard -

Hi Sharon,

I am so, so sorry...our guts have the worse timing ever.

Firstly, I do not line up when there is an emergency situation, I scream at the top of my lungs if need be and rush to the 1st stall that opens up...(I just say, 'about to have a bad accident!!!' and ladies move out of the way or I go to the boy's room if there is no line-up...don't care, it is better than an accident!)

Next, stress can cause diarrhea, so can strong emotions...you body does not differentiate between the good or the bad stress so it reacts the same...No need to ask why...it is written in our biology.

Sometimes it is the change in water from one area to another...or the food.

If it did not last longer than 24hrs I would opt for the stress option but if it is still going on, then you may have picked up a bug.

Mini pads are lifesavers in these situations.

Plan for the worst, hope for the best, accept whatever comes along...

And please, do not be embarassed...I used to always carry a change of underthings, spare pads and a plastic bag in my purse...it gave me a measure of comfort and security 'just in case'...especially whenever traveling or going to unknown places.

Sharon

ps. Congratulations on your son's graduation!
