Hi. I was recently put on celebrex for about two weeks because of total hip replacement surgery. I had the orthopedic surgeon contact my colorectal surgeon to see if it was ok. He said yes. I am now being treated with flagyl for pouchitis--feeling better after about a week of it. I also started taking turmeric. Has anyone heard of celebrex causing pouchitis? I know we're supposed to stay away from NSAIDS like ibuprofen.

Celebrex is an NSAID, and can also promote pouchitis. That being said, two weeks of it while also taking Flagyl will probably not cause any extra pouchitis.
Thanks! I didn't start the flagyl until after I was off of the celebrex. My pain has subsided after being on the flagyl, so I'm pretty sure it was pouchitis. It was definitely inflammation.
Celebrex sure doesn't help pouchitis, so maybe it did contribute. I'm glad you're feeling better.
