I'm moving to London next month from the US and would appreciate any recommendations for a gastroenterologist, or even an internist. I don't have a clue where to start or how to identify the best providers so any insights would be appreciated.

In the UK, there's St Marks Hospital,, which is within the Northwick Park Hospital complex, Harrow, near Wembley Stadium, London.
St Marks Hospital is regarded as a centre of excellence and is the only Hospital wthin Europe that specialises solely in intestinal and colorectal ailments, complications and Surgery.
In fact, the J pouch was pioneered at St Marks Hospital.
St Marks is a NHS Hospital, so referal from a GP (physician) or Consultant is normally required, however, when I had my J pouch surgery at St Marks, I did meet a number of patients who claimed they were receiving treatment privately via medical insurance

I moved backed to the UK, after living in California and had my jpouch in California. I now having been going to St Marks Hospital for over 14 years and they are absolutely brilliant. You do need to get a referral from your local GP and they do private insurance too.
Dr James Lindsey at the Royal London is also fantastic.
