I'm from philly my takedown was 5 weeks ago and I'm sick of grilled chicken sandwiches and turkey and cheese sandwiches white rice and mash potatoes !! I'm busting for a slice of Lorenzo's cheese Pizza and a Pats Cheesesteak but I'd probably end up in the bathroom with a pillow and blanket lol ...

Congratulations...you are feeling better (first sign? An appetite and cravings)....2 rules...everything in moderation (think barbie-doll sized portions the 1st time...take a bite, chewwwwww, swallow...................wait (24hrs?) and take another) and 2nd rule...ditto the first.
Not exactly but it is a good rule. You do not know what the cheese steak or pizza are going to do to your gut, how it will react and how it will come out in the end. (pun intended)
The only way to do that is to walk-by someone eating a slice, snag a bite and keep walking
If you have a will of steel go out with a friend, order something reasonable and then ask to taste theirs....
Who knows, you may have no problems at all...or be in lock down mode for 24hrs so take it easy.
Sharon
Thx Sharon For that great and funny advice because if I was to sneak bite of someone's pizza or steak sandwich I'd probably end up with a black eye lol ... Philly people are Ruthless lol..., but for real as much as I want these two foods it's not worth the possibilities that may occur and yes if you don't try then you'll never know concept...
Assuming you're not lactose intolerant, why would you expect to have problems from a *moderate* meal like that? My diet was unrestricted from the start. Most of us don't have lots of food intolerances.
I was eating normal (normal meaning pre UC days) two weeks after my takedown surgery. Go for it. Start out will small portions and see how you do. It's all trial and error. You shouldn't "avoid" any particular food. Try and see.
I would think that a cheese steak and pizza would be pretty easy foods to eat at this point. Honestly, meat, breads, cheese, and pasta were my first foods I was eating a few days after surgery. Should be much kinder to your system than raw fruits/veggies and other roughage. Enjoy :-)
Sonny, we live about an hour north of NYC. Your cheesesteak is so good that my husband and son once got a craving so strong that they took a road trip just to get some, then came home! Good luck with your tasting!

It's amazing what a cheesesteak will make a person do lol .. I'm glad they enjoyed it ... And thank you for wishing me luck I just haven't got the courage yet to try it lol ... But soon
Okay serious business now:
Pats vs. Genos
Who is the best? I've had both and I vote Genos
I had my surgeries in Philly and on the way home from my first surgery my hubby actually stopped for a cheesesteak. I was sooooooo pissed at him because I was in pain and just wanted to go home. Plus, it was 100 degrees outside. I still haven't let him live that one down! That's what kind of pull those damn Philly cheesesteaks have on people!

Well first off I hope your doing well .... And to answer your question pats kills genos there's no comparison lol .... No doubt! ... Which hospital did you do your surgery?
Now see, I liked Genos lol. Five years post op and I'm doing great. Jefferson university hospital is where I was. Terrific hospital. I had a very good experience with them.
Go forbit! My son is 9 weeks post takedown and is eating what ever he wants. That saud, for the first 4 weeks he was on nothing but chicken soup! Enjoy it.
